Elections FAQ's

If you’re thinking of running in the upcoming elections and being a leader at your Students’ Union, here’s everything that you need to know.

NTSU is led by a number of student representatives and the elections are an opportunity for the students to decide who they are. They work across sports, societies, welfare, equality and diversity, and education to improve the experiences of students here at NTU.

There are 6 full-time, paid positions on our Executive Team. These are President, VP Education, VP Community and Welfare, VP Opportunities, VP Sport and VP Postgraduate. There is also a part-time Brackenhurst Officer who works alongside the other Exec as a trustee of the organisation to represent students at Brackenhurst.

We have 7 Equality and Diversity Network Chairs who lead our Equality and Diversity Networks and represent our diverse student membership. We also have Mansfield and Confetti Officers who represent the students on their campus, Committee Members who help run their sports club or society, and School Officers who represent the students in their school.

You can nominate yourself for any position (and one position only) on this website from midday Monday 14th Feb - midday Friday 25th Feb.

Note, to nominate yourself for a position on a society, sports club, or E&D network, you must be a current member of the relevant group. To nominate yourself to be a campus or School Officer, you must study at the relevant campus or school.

Part-time positions, yes. For full-time positions, you need to finish your studies or take a year out.

Full-time Officers earn a full-time salary (£21k). Part-time roles are voluntary but are great personal development opportunities.

It’s an opportunity to help run a multi-million-pound charity, make changes at the University, represent your fellow students, get valuable early career leadership experience, access to training, and more. All while having fun.

Campaign. You’ll have to convince your fellow students to vote for you by talking to them, sharing your ideas and vision for the year ahead. Why not ask friends to form a team to help you with this?

Voting is open from Friday 11th March, 8pm – Friday 18th March, 5pm, and the results will be announced later that evening.
