Confetti Officer

Grace Fox, Confetti Officer

Hi, I'm Verity.

I'm your Students’ Union Confetti Officer. I am a part-time, non-sabbatical officer of the Executive Team. I am responsible for arranging campus-based activities/campaigns and communicating campus-related issues to the wider Student’s Union.

What I've been up to

Organising Engaging Events for Confetti Students

I have been actively planning and delivering a variety of events to enhance student life and bring people together. So far, I have successfully hosted two Paint & Sip events, offering a relaxed creative space for students to unwind. I have also organised networking events and opportunities to help students connect within the industry and across different courses. Additionally, I planned and delivered ShaG Bingo, a fun and educational event during sexual health awareness and guidance week. Looking ahead, I am working towards assisting with a Battle of the Bands project, collaborating with different student societies, helping to bring their fantastic idea to life!

Designed and Launched a Confetti Student Survey

With support from the NTSU Opportunities team, I developed the ‘Totally Painless Survey’ to gather feedback on event ideas, the skills-sharing workshops, and gauge student opinions on the Confetti/NTU merge. The survey, distributed in late January, provided valuable insights to tailor future events and improve student experiences.

Hosting a Confetti Skill-Sharing Workshop

During Industry Week at Confetti, I am hosting a skill-sharing workshop, where Confetti students can showcase and teach their talents in areas such as music, film, sound and lighting, and tech. This initiative fosters collaboration and networking, helping students enhance their skills while learning from their peers in an interactive and engaging environment.

Collaborating with NTU Support Services on Mental Health Initiatives

Recognizing the importance of student well-being, I am collaborating with NTU support services to introduce pop-up mental health stations, particularly during exam seasons. These stations will provide students with accessible mental health resources and support, ensuring they have the tools to manage academic stress effectively.

My manifesto points

Here you can see the progress of the promises I made to become your Confetti Officer.

Organise some cool events tailored specifically to each course, I’m talking e-sport tournaments, gigs for our talented musicians and conferences to boost Confetti morale!

In progress

Why are energy drinks not available at all student cafes? This is an essential when we have 9am’s the morning after a night out – how about a food truck once a week for amid-lecture snack. I want to campaign to make both essentials an opportunity.

Not possible

I want to fight to secure a 24/7 study space for those late-night study sessions, cramming for your next summative.
