What is a White Elephant:

It is a bit like secret Santa but your not buying for someone specific your buying a gift to put on a table. the committee will set rules on the exchange. 

Another element to White Elephant is you get assigned a number and when its your turn you can either pick a gift from the unwrapped ones. Or you can be EVIL!!!!  you can steal from someone else. By the end of it everyone will have a cool or silly gift.
