Wolf of Wall Street star Jonah Hill has apologised again for yelling homophobic slurs at a photographer, and vowed to never use the word “faggot” again.
A video was released by TMZ of the actor yelling at a photographer, exclaiming: “Suck my dick, you faggot!”
He today reiterated his apology for the incident, while appearing on Good Morning America to promote new movie 22 Jump Street.
He said: “Words can be really destructive. This kind of defamatory language can have a profound effect on someone who’s questioning their sexuality. and it’s never okay to use that kind of language.
“I personally vow to never, ever use that word ever again, and I urge everyone else to do the same.”
He had previously appeared on Howard Stern’s radio show to explain the incident.
He said: “This is a heartbreaking situation for me.
“I am upset because from the day I was born and publicly I have been a gay rights activist.
“You saw a 40 second video, this person had been following me around – just to give it some context, not excusing what I said in any way – this person had been following me around all day, saying hurtful things about my family, really hurtful things about me personally and I played into exactly what he wanted and lost my cool and in that moment I said a disgusting word that does not at all affect how I feel about any group of people.
“I am happy to take the heat for using this disgusting word. What I won’t allow, it would break my heart for anyone to think, especially with all the work I have done, that I would be against anyone for their sexuality.”
