Hey guys! Here are the minutes from our Annual General Meeting on 13/02/2020 for those who were unable to attend but would like to know any changes that will be made in the society:
- Welcome and introductions
- Each committee member introduced themselves and briefly outlined their role
2. Attendance and apologies
- No apologies as all committee members present
3. Matters arising from the previous AGM
- No pending matters to discuss
4. President’s report regarding the society’s achievements over the last year
- Increase in membership from 800 members at the end of last academic year to 1400
- Lots of external events in term one
- Collaborated with CoppaFeel for cocktails and chill night- really successful and lots of interest in another one from members
- Lots of exciting events still to come- Budapest, Boat Ball, Cocktail Carnival and more external events and collaborations
5. Treasurer’s report regarding society finances
- Lots of funds from boom in membership at the beginning of the year which has meant we have been able to keep costs down for events
- Replenished equipment and glassware at the beginning of the year to accommodate for increased training session capacity
- Lots of funds still in the account and we are hoping to put lots of them to the Cocktail Carnival
6. Approval of amendments to the society constitution including committee positions
- Vote to remove the role of Vice- President- majority vote in favour of removal
- Vote to add additional role of Social and Wellbeing Secretary- majority vote in favour of addition
- Vote to add additional role of Promotions and Marketing Officer- majority vote in favour of addition
7. Any other business
- Discussion with members about increasing initial membership fee from £5 to £10
- This is with the intent of reducing inactive membership and create a smaller, more engaged society
- Straw poll outcome relatively equal
- Did not vote officially so for the time being membership will remain at £5 pending the new committee who will discuss this further
- Any other comments about society welcomed by president, no further comments
