Event details

This event is only open to NTU students.

Join our knowledgeable volunteers and on site conservators for a free guided tour and talk of Nottingham's historic cathedral.

The Cathedral Church of St Barnabas is a Grade II* listed building on Derby Road, in the heart of Nottingham city centre.  Designed by the renowned architect Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin, it was dedicated in 1844 and raised to the status of Cathedral in 1850. Pugin, a key pioneer of the Gothic Revival architectural style, also helped design the interior of the Houses of Parliament.

Learn about the Cathedral's early decorative schemes, and plans to revive them for future generations. There will be the opportunity to meet the conservators working daily in the Cathedral as they seek to uncover the many stories that are unfolding on a daily basis.

Cost: Free.
Time: Meet at Newton Reception at 1.30 pm. We will be leaving promptly at 1.45 pm and walking to the Cathedral together.  The guided tour starts at 2 pm.
