Last week we got to catch up with Trent, the guide dog we named and sponsored as a puppy, when he popped in to our Puppy Room on 2nd February.
Trent is now 16 months old and has spent the last year with his puppy walker learning to be a well behaved dog. He is going to school (kind of like Guide Dog University) later this month for his advanced training.
NTSU has raised £17,000 so far to support the costs of Trent’s training, which is arranged through the Guide Dogs charity. After he completes his training he will be matched with someone who is visually impaired and needs his help. He is very smart and very observant, and pays lots of attention to detail, noticing immediately when something doesn’t seem right, so hopefully he will make a responsible guide dog.
Trent likes walking through Victoria Centre, and is very used to seeing the shopping centre cleaning staff with their cleaning trolleys and equipment. As an example of his observant nature, one day he was walking through the mall when he suddenly froze and stared at an abandoned trolley, noticing that there was something missing in that picture: the person who usually pushes the trolley around!
He really enjoyed being back at NTSU for the Puppy Room, and loved all the attention and cuddles from the students. NTSU is really proud to be able to support Trent’s training and development through our RaG fundraising activities as we know he will be able to have a really unique and positive impact on somebody’s life.
To get involved in our future fundraising activities, take a look at our RaG page. These activities are a great way to have new experiences, make new friends, build your CV and have a positive impact on the lives of other people, so we highly recommend that you get involved, even if it is just for one afternoon.
