NTSU is delighted to announce that, based on student feedback, funding has been secured by NTU to cover the cost of degree and catwalk shows for students enrolled on art, design, fashion and architecture courses.
This is fantastic news for these students, who previously had to raise substantial sums of money through self-organised activities in order to fund their degree and catwalk end of year shows.
Students have responded extremely positively to the news. Fashion Design student Sophie Lea, said “It's lifted a huge weight off our shoulders and will allow us to concentrate on our individual work, hopefully creating the best collections and products that the university has seen so far.”
NTSU, who are currently running a Slice The Price campaign aimed at reducing the hidden costs of education, are greatly appreciative and supportive of this move. We believe that, not only does this remove a hidden course cost for students, it will also reduce the stress and time pressures that come with sourcing funds and allow students to focus on their graded work.
The funding is scheduled to be introduced this academic year and will be made available to cover the costs of degree shows in 2016. Students are still encouraged to undertake self-initiated fund raising activities to cover other costs such as course materials as the skills these develop are useful for future employment.
Course Leaders will discuss with students on relevant courses shortly how the funding will be used to realise their 2016 degree shows. The full list of courses which are covered by this scheme are:
