What we're doing

At NTSU, we want to embed sustainability into everything we do.

This is why we've just released an ambitious sustainability strategy to hold us accountable and ensure we're always transparent about our progress. But that isn't all we've done...

• Appointed our new Sustainability Officer (welcome Abby)
• Achieved an Excellent Standard in Green Impact Students' Union for 2022-23 (What is this?).
• Presented our plans to the Board of Trustees (i.e., the important decision-makers of the Union)
• Began our journey to earn our ISO14001 certification (This is an ongoing project estimated to take up to three years. Once complete, we will likely be the UK's first Students' Union to have this).
• Re-written our Environmental Policy.
• Created the organisation's first Sustainability Strategy.
• Secured the EcoCampus Silver Certificate.
• Calculated our baseline carbon footprint (2021/22).
• Calculated our carbon footprint (2022/23) and published our carbon reports.
• Created our first Sustainable Procurement Policy

What's next for us?

• Calculate our carbon footprint on an annual basis. Next up 2023-24 academic year.
• Work towards our Gold EcoCampus certification.
