This April, the Metronome transformed into a hotspot of style, sustainability, and social consciousness with the brand new event "Re-Fashioned Revolution". Hosted by the Fashion Revolution and Event Society, this charity fashion show celebrated the union of fashion and philanthropy, in an effort to promote sustainable fashion!
On the night of April 16th, 2024, fashion enthusiasts and environmentally conscious students gathered to witness a runway spectacle unlike any other. Generously donated by Oxfam, pre-loved clothes received a glamorous makeover inspired by the most influential music decades and festivals from the 60s all the way to modern day, before sashaying down the runway. The cherry on top? Every piece seen on the runway was up for grabs post-show, allowing attendees to find and take home new editions to their wardrobes.
The excitement didn't stop at fashion. The venue buzzed with the live singers, clinking glasses at the bar, and the vibrant chatter around concession stands. It was more than just a show; it was a community coming together for a great cause.
This event was completely non-profit! As all proceeds from ticket sales and clothing purchases were given to Oxfam. "Re-Fashioned Revolution" wasn't just an event; it was a movement—a glorious celebration of how fashion can be a force for good.
The event was extremely successful, and even ended up being short-listed for ‘Collaboration of the Year’ at the NTSU Awards 2024. Fashion Revolution and Event Society also set about recruiting volunteers to style and model the donated items, which gave NTU students not just a fun evening, but also practical experience. The event really showed what can be achieved when people come together for a good cause.
