► Our Mission

We are the students of Nottingham Trent University; this is our union.

Mission

To involve, represent, develop and entertain Nottingham Trent Students and to enhance their university experience.

Vision

In fulfilling our mission we will be a leading students’ union in areas that matter to our members.

Values

Welcoming, democratic, supportive, diverse, underpinned by quality.

In order to achieve our mission, we will do our utmost to:

  • Defend students’ rights and promote students’ welfare
  • Ensure our members’ voice is heard and acted upon
  • Create ‘job ready’ students
  • Create a diverse retail, leisure and cultural programme that reflects sound commercial practice
  • Maintain a well run, stable and efficient organisation

Diversity

NTSU recognises, respects, and promotes the diversity of its staff, students, and stakeholders, and is fully committed to creating an environment where these differences are valued and encouraged.

Strategic Themes

Theme 1
We will defend students’ rights and promote students’ welfare by:

  • Providing an accessible, accredited advice service for all students including groups that are currently under-represented
  • Using the strength of NTSU and its membership to improve the local student housing market

Theme 2
We will ensure our members’ voice is heard and acted upon by:

  • Fully supporting elected officers to use their skills and resources to effectively represent our members
  • Developing a recognised and respected academic representational system
  • Promoting easily accessible decision making structures for our members
  • Successfully supporting student led campaigns
  • Developing our engagement with local and national stakeholders

Theme 3
We will create ‘job ready’ students by:

  • Creating a range of accredited and certified learning opportunities for members
  • Using the strength of NTSU and its membership to improve the local student employment market
  • Providing a diverse and accessible range of activities for students

Theme 4
We will create a diverse retail, leisure and cultural programme that reflects sound commercial practice by:

  • Ensuring all campus based student entertainments, licensed activities and retail meets with the needs of members
  • Delivering cultural, entertainment and leisure activities for targeted student groups

Theme 5
We will maintain a well run, stable and efficient organisation by:

  • Producing targeted and effective communications via a range of media
  • Collaborating, where possible, with other organisations to ensure quality and reduce costs
  • Being financially sustainable
  • Delivering gold standard customer care via a customer service charter
  • Developing additional revenue streams for the organisation
  • Having a staff team of appropriate size, skill, training, motivation and experience to deliver this strategic plan.
