What societies are there?

 Take a look at the societies list A - Z for a list of the current societies here at Trent.

 How do I join a society?

 There are several ways of joining a society:

 1. Visit any of the Sport & Societies fairs during Welcome Week,

 2. Click on 'join this group' button on the webpage of the society you want to join,

3. Contact the Society using the contact box at the bottom of each Societies webpage

4. Go along to one of the society's events,

5. Email: societies@su.ntu.ac.uk.

How do I contact a society?

Most societies have contact details on their webpage or in the societies guide. However if you can't find them you can email societies@su.ntu.ac.uk.

How much is membership?

Minimum membership is £4 however the fee varies from society to society depending on the level of activities you get from them and the cost of activities.

How do I set up a society?

First read the information on the setting up a society page, then find other people intrested in joining and contact us.

When can I join a society?/ Do I have to join at the beginning of the year?

You can join any society at any time of the year, via this website.

What do the societies do?

This depends on what society you join and what their focus and priorities are. This, however, is an example of the typical activities some of our societies put on:

1. Meetings,

2. Social events,

3. Awareness campaigns,

4. Fundraising,

5. Talks/lectures,

6. Perfomances,

7. Beginning/ end-of-year events,

and much more....

How are societies funded?

Societies are funded in a number of ways:

1. Some of the membership fee goes towards the activity costs,

2. The society can apply for a budget from the Students' Union every year to subsidise activities,

3. Fees/ticket sales for events/activities,

4. Fundraising,

5. Sponsorship.

What if I have a comment/concern or complaint?

If you have a comment/concern or complaint about a society or society committee member you can email societies@su.ntu.ac.uk giving details, or contact the VP on 0115 848 6220 or by completing the societies feedback from you will receive at the end of the year.
